The newer plaque. This mini memorial garden is located at 617 E Street, north of 6th, in what once was a city well yard. Lyda Williams, for whom the garden is named, was a resident of 607 E Street. The memorial has special significance in that Williams was "reknowned"* for maintaining elaborate front and back yard flower gardens at her home for over 20 years. It is said that her gardens attracted visitors from all over Davis*. According to Davis Historical Society records, Williams was struck and killed by a speeding truck while crossing the 6th and F intersection. She was 88 years old. Friends and family of Williams established the garden in honor of the departed. The old plaque.
