Kristen Matsumura graduated from UC Davis in 2008 in civil engineering. During her time at UC Davis she participated in:

- Astronomy classes (Roof Helper)
- Astronomy Club
- Chi Epsilon - Civil Engineering Honors Society
and
She currently works for Deb Niemeier as a "junior specialist" researcher in civil engineering
